"It is the commonest of mistakes to consider that the limit of our powers of perception is also the limit of all there is to perceive."

Hi! I'm Heathyr Hoffman.

I'm a medium.  Actually, I'm more of a size small; but basically what I'm saying here is that I see and hear dead people.  And hey! I was also on the Syfy network's series, Ghost Hunters Academy.

I've been able to communicate with spirits since I was a small child, but don't let that fool you.  I consider myself a skeptical medium, which is to say that I seek to find all possible alternate explanations for phenomena before concluding that something is paranormal.  If something looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, sometimes it's just a guy in a duck suit.

"Honey, a medium doesn't have to be a lumpy middle-aged woman in a button sweater, you know." Richard Matheson, A Stir of Echoes

I live in Phoenix, AZ where I am finishing up my Master's degree in Counseling.  I also work in a shelter for victims of domestic violence, and have been working in some form of victim advocacy/crisis intervention for the last 4 years.

The field of paranormal investigation is something that I am extremely dedicated to.  I am passionate about finding a balance between the metaphysical and scientific aspects of paranormal investigation in order to potentially capture the entire picture of paranormal phenomena.  I believe it is important to utilize every possible tool that is available, as none of them have proven to be reliable 100% of the time for measuring spirit activity.

I am the founder and director of my own group here in Phoenix, the Arizona Research & Mediumship Society (ARMS), and we seek to find that balance between methodologies that have previously been considered on opposite ends of the spectrum.  There certainly isn't an easy solution, but I believe we can use our different methods and theories in conjunction with one another in pursuit of the truth.
